Friday 12th February

Bore da! It's our last day before half term, and what a fantastic term we have had so far! You have all worked so hard at home, we are very proud of you :)

In Welsh, we have been thinking about the weather. Today can you answer the question 'Beth wyt ti'n hoffi?'. What do you like?  Use the weather words below and put them into the boxes. You could print the template below off or make your own!

Bore da! Another frosty morning today!

On J2e today, we are writing our factfiles! Use the facts you found yesterday to write it. Then we have Big Maths to do!

Then have a go at this matching game! You could print it off or I've also added it to J2e so you can do it on there too!

Bore da! It's a cold one this morning, mae hi'n oer! 

Today on J2e, Russ has joined us as she has some estimation problems! Can we help her with them?

We are also going to be writing some sentences about animals under the sea! Try to sound out as much as you can.

Monday 8th February

Bore da! I hope you all had a fantastic weekend. 

Today is Safer Internet Day! I have shared a powerpoint with you on J2e about it. Have a read through the powerpoint and talk about the different situations with your family member. What is the safest thing to do if something like that happened while you were on the internet?

Once you have done that, you could make a video or poster showing how to stay safe on the internet. Share you video or poster with us on Class Dojo!

Also have a go at a Joe Wicks PE lesson today!

On J2e, we are starting to look at estimation! There is a powerpoint and a task for you to have a look at. There is also a word search for you to complete.

This week we have our next live sessions. Before starting the live session, can you make sure to bring a favourite toy or book for us to see and talk about!

Bore da! What a fantastic week we have had - we have loved seeing lots of your smiling faces on our lives sessions!

On J2e today, we have a mymaths activity and spelling task.

Today, have a go at this penguin bottle craft! If you haven't got a bottle, maybe you could make it out of something else.

Wednesday 3rd February

Bore da! This week is Children's Mental Health Week, so today go for a walk with your family and try these mindfulness activities.

Bore da! Your under the sea pictures yesterday were fantastic!

On J2e today we are learning how to tell the time using a digital clock! You might see this type of clock on a phone or tablet. We are also learning some facts about animals that live under the sea.

It's important to stay healthy so have a go at making this fruity snack. You could use oranges or a different fruit!

Bore da, today is the first day of February! On J2e, we have some phonics to do this morning and we are also going to be looking at different types of clocks!

To carry on our Animaltastic topic, this week we are going to start learning about animals that live under the sea. Can you make an under the sea picture? You could draw or paint it, or make a collage! How many different animals can you include?

Bore da, we have come to the end of another fantastic week! You are all working so hard. We loved reading your stories yesterday, they were all brilliant!

For today, our literacy activity on J2e is some spellings, and for numeracy we have a mymaths activity to do.

Sut mae'r tywydd heddiw? What's the weather like today? We are going to be weather people today and practice some Welsh. Use the word mat below to think of a weather forecast! You could then ask your grown up to film you and share it with us on Class Dojo.

Thursday 28th January

Bore da! Great work yesterday Dosbarth 4!

On J2e, it is time to write our stories! Use the word mat and sound charts (on Class Dojo) to help you sound things out. For numeracy, we are telling the time. Where should the big hand point to for o'clock? What about half past?

If you could be any animal what would you be? Why? Talk to your family about what animals you would all be and draw a picture of them.

Let's get active and do some animal movements like the ones below, can you make them into a dance?

 

 

Wednesday 27th January

Good morning! I hope you all enjoyed the virtual zoo yesterday, there was lots of exciting animals on there!

Today, on J2e we are going to learn about half past for numeracy! For literacy, we are going to be making up some sentences ready for our story tomorrow. Try to sound out those words as much as you can, and remember your full stops and capital letters!

One of the animals in the zoo yesterday were chimps! Can you make chimp faces like the ones below? Can you do the animal movements in the second picture?

Tuesday 26th January

Bore da! You made some lovely cards and welsh spoons yesterday!

Today, we are going to learn about Chester Zoo. Visit the Chester Zoo website and watch some of their virtual zoo videos! You could watch the videos with you family and talk about it. What can you see? Did you learn any interesting facts? Which is your favourite animal, why? You could share some of your answers on Class Dojo.

Once you have done that, have a go at the mindfulness drawing below. You could draw something you saw in the videos or something from your house.

 

 

On J2e, we are going to continue learning about time. Today we are starting to look at clocks! For literacy, we are going to practice some spelling words from The Zoo Vet.

Bore da! What a snowy weekend it's been, did you all enjoy building snowmen? 

Today is St Dwynwen's Day! Watch the video below and then make a St Dwynwen's Day card for someone you love! You could also have a go at making a Welsh love spoon like the ones below!

Our literacy and numeracy activities are on J2e. For literacy, can you fill in the words on the picture? Look carefully to where the arrows are pointing! For numeracy, there is an activity about days of the week and months of the year!

Bore da! You made some fantastic zoos yesterday!

Your first activity for today is to make owl cookies! I have left a recipe below for the cookies, make sure to have a grown up help you with these. If you don't have the ingredients, try and make an owl from other objects around your house instead!

Good morning! Mae hi'n bwrw glaw heddiw. It's raining today so let's do some fun indoor activities.

Your first task is to play a game with your family, you could choose any game to play! What's your favourite game to play?

Next, let's design a zoo! You could use lego like the ones below, use playdough, draw your zoo, or maybe use something else from around your house.

Our literacy and numeracy activities are on J2e. For literacy, we are going to read The Zoo Vet and then answer the questions at the end! For numeracy, you have a video to watch and then some questions to answer about shapes!

Tuesday 19th January

Bore da! I loved seeing all of your ideas for our Animaltastic topic, you all seem excited to learn about lots of different animals! To start our topic off, we are going to read a story called 'The Zoo Vet'. I have shared it with you on J2e as well as an activity to go with it. For numeracy, we are going to carry on looking at 2D shapes - did you remember their special name? You will find both of those activities on J2e!

It's important to exercise regularly, so have a go at the workout below:

This week we are starting our new topic Animaltastic and it's all about animals! For your first activity can you make a mind map or poster showing everything you know about animals already, and any animals you would like to learn about! You can then send it to us on Class Dojo.

Bore da! Today on J2e, we are going to carry on the fact families from yesterday, and learn about the qu and ch sounds!

Now that the weather has dried up, go on a walk with your family. While you're out, collect some sticks, leaves, twigs, and other materials to make your name like the ones below! You could also try and make other words after doing your name.

Welcome to Class 4!

 

We have made a great start to the new school year. The children have settled well and are excited to get back to their learning! We began by working on well being, including our handwashing and sanitising routines, and exploring our classroom together.

 

We have now moved on to our topic of Julia Donaldson. We will be reading and doing activities based on three of her books - Monkey Puzzle, A Squash and a Squeeze and Charlie Cook's Favourite Book. The children have thoroughly enjoyed reading Monkey Puzzle this week!

 

Class Information

- Your child will be working with myself (Miss Grinnell) during the week, as well as Mrs Quigley and Mrs Evans.

- We have PE on a Tuesday. Please send your child to school in appropriate clothing and footwear.

- We have our outdoor learning day on a Wednesday. Please send your child in clothing that you don't mind getting dirty or wet. Some children may still have their wellies in school from their previous class, if not please send wellies in.

- We will not be sending reading books home, instead we will be providing online reading tasks. You will receive more information regarding this soon. In the meantime, please continue to use the Oxford Owl website (www.oxfordowl.co.uk)

- Homework tasks will be set online using Hwb (J2e). You will receive information regarding this Friday 18th September.

- Please ensure children bring a water bottle to school labelled with their name. Please also label any cardigans or jumpers which come to school.

- We do ask that no resources are brought to school from home given the current circumstances.
